The department handles the loaning of books of all types, whether Polish, foreign, or foreign Polonica, published after December 31, 1948, as well as of microfilms from other Polish and foreign libraries.
Within the framework of interlibrary loans, readers of the National Library may order documents from foreign and other Polish libraries.
Loans from Polish libraries are free of charge, however materials on loan from foreign libraries carry a charge in accord with the current price list [.pdf].
Loans from special collections take place on separate bases and individually, with the permission of the head of the appropriate institute responsible for special collections.
