#ReadForReal / CZYTAJ.SERIO!

The Polish Fundacja Powszechnego Czytania (Foundation for Universal Reading), together with six partners from all over Europe, won the Creative Europe competition for activities promoting reading. Together they will initiate the CZYTAJ.SERIO! / #ReadForReal project, the aim of which is to improve reading skills and promote European literature.
The international consortium is made up of:
- Fundacja Powszechnego Czytania (Poland) – leader,
- National Library (Poland),
- Stiftung Lesen (Germany),
- CICLIC – Agence régionale du Centre-Val de Loire pour le livre, l’image et la culture numérique (France),
- Chetene (Bulgaria),
- Federation of European Publishers (FEP),
- and EURead – the European network of organisations promoting reading.
Together they will implement three main activities:
- annual celebrations of the European Authors Day (11 November - 12 December), including meetings with writers and events in schools, libraries and bookshops,
- workshops for leaders in reading promotion, strengthening European cooperation networks,
- international conferences "Literacy for Democracy", which are a platform for reflection and action.
The #ReadForReal project focuses on openness - promotional materials will be publicly available, and every institution, school or individual will be able to join in the activities. The initiative is based on successful campaigns such as the Polish #TataTeżCzyta campaign or the Day of Reading Aloud in Germany.
"ReadForReal is an invitation to play with literature and experience books in real contact - without intermediaries, without algorithms" - emphasize the organizers.
Details of the celebrations of the European Authors' Day will be published at the end of summer 2025.
