Palace of the Commonwealth during the Polish Presidency of the European Union

During the 2025 Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Palace of the Commonwealth served as an official cultural venue. Nearly 3,000 distinguished guests from across the European Union visited during this time, including ministers, secretaries of state, secretaries general and heads of central offices and institutions. A total of 32 events were held in the Palace's baroque interiors, including official dinners, working lunches, administrative meetings and bilateral talks.

During the six months of the Polish Presidency, the Palace of the Commonwealth hosted 32 delegations of ministers, department directors and other high-ranking officials from ministries responsible for social policy, climate, health, education, finance, tourism, transport, regional development and cohesion funds, development policy, European affairs, telecommunications, and research and innovation. Among the distinguished guests were EU secretaries of state, secretaries general of foreign ministries, as well as directors and presidents of leading European institutions and organisations, including central banks, medical product registration agencies, Aqua Publica Europea, the European Archives Group and Europol.

A regular feature of the meetings was a tour of the Palace and the exhibition of treasures from the National Library. Staff of the National Library presented some of the most valuable and beautiful items of Polish and world written heritage, including Chopin's manuscripts, the first edition of Copernicus’s On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres, the Holy Cross Sermons,  the Old Annals of the Holy Cross, the Supraśl Codex, a collection of Renaissance maps based on Ptolemy, and many others.
