Opening of the exhibition dedicated to Count Józef Maksymilian Ossoliński at the Parliament of the Republic of Poland

On Thursday, 12 March 2026, Dr Tomasz Makowski, Director of the National Library of Poland and Chair of the Scientific Council of the National Ossolinski Institute, took part in the ceremonial opening of the exhibition Józef Maksymilian Ossoliński (1754–1826), a Visionary, organized by the Ossoliński National Institute in the main hall of the Parliament of the Republic of Poland.

The exhibition presents the life and achievements of Józef Maksymilian Ossoliński – a scholar of the Enlightenment era, collector, and founder of the Ossoliński National Institute, one of the most important and oldest scholarly and cultural institutions in Poland. Its purpose is to highlight the figure of this eminent historian and researcher in connection with his being named one of the Patrons of the Year 2026 by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, on the 200th anniversary of his death.

The exhibition will be on display at the Parliament of the Republic of Poland from 9 to 16 March, and then throughout 2026 it will be presented at selected institutions in Poland and abroad. The exhibition has been prepared in several language versions: Polish, English, Lithuanian, German, and Ukrainian. The curators of the exhibition are Marta Dardzińska and Marta Pękalska.
