Final Curator-Led Tour of the Exhibition VOJAĜO. Cycling to Asia with Esperanto (1928–1932)
On Thursday 23 April at 6:00 p.m., the National Library of Poland invites you to the final curator-led tour of the exhibition VOJAĜO. Cycling to Asia with Esperanto (1928–1932).
This is a unique opportunity to take one more look at the extraordinary story of Lucien Péraire’s journey – an Esperantist who, in 1928, set out from Lyon on a bicycle trip across Europe and Asia, seeking an answer to the question of the sources of conflict and hostility between nations. The exhibition features documents, photographs, notes, and mementoes from this remarkable journey, presented alongside materials preserved in the National Library.
The exhibition tells not only the story of the journey itself, but also that of the Esperanto movement and of the efforts being made today to preserve its heritage. Warsaw – the birthplace of Esperanto – has become one of the most important centres for safeguarding this unique legacy. For the first time, the exhibition VOJAĜO. Cycling to Asia with Esperanto (1928–1932) presents a selection of objects from the Péraire Collection, showing the development of the Esperanto movement at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s and revealing its extraordinary vitality.
We invite all lovers of history, travel, books, and culture to the final curator-led tour of the exhibition VOJAĜO. Cycling to Asia with Esperanto (1928–1932).
