National Library event wins MP Power Awards competition
The project “A Pole at the Head of the World’s Libraries”, carried out by the El Padre agency for the National Library, won the MP Power Awards 2025 in the Event – Celebration category.
The award-winning event was a meeting of National Library donors and directors of Polish libraries, held on the eve of Dr Tomasz Makowski, Director of the National Library, assuming the role of Chair of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries (CDNL). This is the first time in history that a representative of Poland and of Central and Eastern Europe has headed this international body, which brings together directors of national libraries from around the world.
The ceremony “A Pole at the Head of the World’s Libraries” took place on 16 November 2025 at the headquarters of the National Library in Warsaw. It was attended by numerous National Library donors, directors of the best Polish libraries, and representatives of culture, the media, diplomacy and public institutions.
The MP Power Awards jury recognised the event concept, organised in the reading rooms of the National Library, as an example of a celebration of exceptional symbolic significance, carried out with respect for the character of the institution, its architecture and its mission. Instead of a traditional gala, the organisers prepared a ceremony in which light, sound, image and narration formed a coherent story about Polish heritage and the role of national libraries.
As stated in the event description: “the strength of the project lay precisely in the fact that no attempt was made to organise a gala at the National Library in the classic sense. Instead, the Library itself was allowed to speak, in its own amplified voice, about its greatest contemporary triumph. The whole event was conceived as an intimate, focused experience, deeply rooted in the identity of the place. As a result, the typical glitz of an event was replaced by an atmosphere of respect, pride and concentration, which conveyed the meaning of that moment far more powerfully.”
The MP Power Awards is a competition recognising the best projects and solutions in the meetings and events industry. A total of 150 entries qualified for the final of the 14th edition of the competition, including projects by large corporations.
