FAQ

  • During the summer holiday period, the National Library’s reading rooms are open during their standard hours:

    • the Lower Reading Room, Upper Reading Room, Reference Books Reading Room, Recent Publications Reading Room, Załuski Reading Room, Small Reading Rooms and Newspapers & Current Periodicals Reading Room – Monday to Saturday, 8.30 a.m.–8.30 p.m.;
    • the Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Room – Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m.–8.30 p.m., and Saturdays, 8.30 a.m.–3.00 p.m.;
    • specialist reading rooms – Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m.–2.00 p.m.

    From 29 June to 28 August, readers’ requests will be processed only between 8.30 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.

  • The Library may be used on Saturdays, subject to certain restrictions:

    • The Book and Periodicals Stacks accept requests until 3.00 p.m. Requests submitted later are processed on Monday.
    • Requests for ephemera, bibliological collections and materials whose shelf marks include the abbreviations Cim., Cym., Chr., Cim. Konsp., Konsp. or Wyst. are not processed. Such materials may only be made available if they have been ordered in advance.
    • The Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Room is open until 3.00 p.m.
    • The Cartographic Reading Room, Music Reading Room and Sound and Video Recordings Room are closed. Consequently, maps, iconographic materials, sheet music and recordings are not made available.
